Like how we look forward to graduation day or a wedding, or even doing our taxes every year, there’s something new coming on the internet. It’s called a cookieless future, and it’s arriving real soon!
Google, the well-known tech giant, is getting ready to start something new. It’s called the Privacy Sandbox. They plan to stop using things called third-party cookies for 1 out of 100 Chrome users at the beginning of 2024.
A smart guy named Victor Wong says that people who make websites will be able to practice for this cookie-less change. They can do this by moving some of their users to this Privacy Sandbox starting from the end of 2023.
By the middle of 2024, it seems like Google wants to get rid of these cookies completely.
In other news, YouTube is starting to play longer ads that you can’t skip while watching on your TV. Also, when you press pause on a video, a new kind of ad may pop up, which could be pretty fun to look at.
Google also said it’s okay to use smart machines to help make ads. This means you might start to see ads made by a machine, not a person!
Google is testing these new tools on YouTube. It’s starting with automatic title and description writing. This could make things easier.
So, it looks like Google is really into using smart machines to help with advertising. Is it a bit too much to take in? Don’t worry, we’re all learning together!
